Ravi's picture

Credit repair is generally a very vunerable situation to be in.  And to that the inanity of credit crad scams and can make the whole thing a huge mess that can make you want to just crawl into ahole and pretend this all never happend. But it did! Fortunately, there are ways to protect yourself from such things and the advice you're about to read is something you should get used to doing with your credit cards until the end of your life. There are a few good basic habits that can prevent you from dealing with credit card scams. Why would you want to avoid credit card scams? Well, simply because they can be costly and make you waste a lot of time – and money! If you're in credit repair, you also know that peace of mind can be an important resource, so this goes in accordance with your efforts to keep everything under control and to make your way out of credit repair safely and as quickly as possible.

Where you put your credit cards

Good behavior with credit cards starts with where you put them. When you walk in the city, are your credit cards easily reachable? Also, when you head out of a store or building where you last used your credit card, make the good habit of always looking back to see if you've forgotten anything behind on either the counter – or the floor. This little move can then become quite natural and you will be much less likely to make it easy for a thief to steal your identity simply because of your accidental oversight. Don't carry too many cards as well.

Invoices and statements

Then, your good habits should also follow you when you handle your paperwork at home. A shredder can be a good investment if you have the money and avoid putting anything with your credit card number on it in the trash. Always shred your important documents with account numbers, names and adresses. Always!

Be careful on the web

This should now be no secret since the recent outbreak of the Heartbleed bug. Whenever you enter your credit card numbers on the web, make sure that the website is secure and that your information won't be compromised. Also be careful and aware of any files you keep on your own computer and hard drive that might give hints of information about your credit card information, or any financial information for that matter. Even if you have an antivirus software, your information can always be accessed if the right hacker targets you.

If unlucky

If you happen to be one of the unlucky people who get their credit card information stolen, absolutely call without delay so that the credit card provider can take the necessary measures to safe guard your account. Most of these companies have a quick menu option for stolen credit cards and you should be able to talk to a representative very quickly.

And finally, don't forget to make a careful review of all your credit card purchases at the end of each month so that less damage is done without you noticing. Being aware of a credit fraud earlier can also make it easier for you to dispute and take care of things and hopefully continue your credit repair unaffected. Credit repair is a situation where any time (and every dollar) counts so make and maintain good habits to keep you out of trouble when it comes to your credit cards.
